I seriously think that things must be right in the world when the staggering ginger beauty that is Christina Hendricks is actually recognised as a great TV stunner. The homogeny of what is considered beautiful on television has become relentless in the last ten years - speared on by the cookie-cutter pretty girls that appear in all those shows I watch on The CW. So I am complicit. But when the real lookers appear, it really delights me that it is celebrated on the cover of a magazine so widely read as The Hollywood Reporter.
Of course Christina's fine acting and her portrayal of Joan in the hit TV series Mad Men doesn't hurt in getting the right sort of attention. But I would wager that it has surprised all the TV bosses that her va-va-voom figure as garnered as much attention as it has.
I adore these kinds of shoots. The ones that really use the fashion as a backdrop, a storytelling device for the real story - the person being photographed. It is always so much more successful when the subject has something going on in their eyes, heads, hearts. As it is clear Christina does.
I think this is a wonderful shoot. I love it. It makes me happy. I will skip now.
